September 20, Dr. Chen Lu, Secretary-General of the Sino-North African Education Innovation Association, SNAEIA, was invited to attend the 13th Beijing Humboldt Forum and the 4th Global Development Frontier Forum, hosted by the University of International Business and Economics, and participated in the round table discussion on “Global South Cooperation: Practice, Experience, and Youth Development”.
The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Wang Bo, Dean of the School of International Development Cooperation at the University of International Business and Economics. Representatives of international organizations, diplomatic envoys to China, government officials, experts from educational and research institutions, and youth representatives attended the forum, including Wang Dongyan, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Chaoyang District CPPCC; His Excellency Dan Osman Abdi, Ambassador of Somalia to China; and Elena, Chairperson of the Global Sustainable Energy Forum and former Ambassador of Austria to China. Participants unanimously agreed that the forum's theme of gathering wisdom, building a platform, sharing and exchanging ideas is of great significance. Focusing on the theme of "Global South-South Cooperation from Diverse Perspectives", participating experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on common challenges and paths for cooperation among countries in the Global South in areas such as climate change response, green transformation, digital economy development, and youth capacity building. Professor Wang Qiang, Vice President of the University of International Business and Economics, delivered the closing speech at the forum.
During the Round-table Discussion on “Global South Cooperation: Practice, Experience, and Youth Development”, Dr. Chen Lu highlighted SNAEIA’s contributions to the development of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and to promoting educational cooperation in the Global South, particularly in Central and North Africa, She also showcased SNAEIA’s outstanding collaborative achievements and the strong support and service initiatives provided by its series of demonstration projects for China-Africa higher education cooperation as a “bridge, platform, intermediate and ambassador”. Dr. Chen Lu said that international educational exchange and cooperation is a cause that sows hope and promising future. The rise of the Global South is inseparable from the generations of young people with ideas, skills, and the sense of responsibility. Through closer, more efficient, and more innovative educational collaboration, the Alliance will work with Chinese and international partners to give young talents from the Global South wings to explore and achieve their dreams.
Dr. Chen Lu stated that, looking ahead, SNAEIA will continue to uphold the principles of “joint consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits”,further deepening collaboration with partners across the Global South to expand international cooperation networks, enhance the depth and breadth of project collaboration, embrace the AI+ era, support “vocational education by going global, industry-education integration”,and adapt projects to industry needs. SNAEIA’s working with Chinese and African partners through high-level planning and efficient organization, is currently promoting the implementation and expansion of the "China-Africa Future Talent Program." This program will provide an exchange platform for African students, share vocational skills development courses, offer internship opportunities, promote employment for local youth, share information on “Study in China”,cultivate students’ innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and future leadership. This represents SNAEIA's wisdom and strength in contributing to the “Global South Cooperation”.
